Burlap & Roses Artist Retreats

Well everyone the Open House Gathering for Burlap & Roses was yesterday, September 29th, in beautiful Paso Robles Wine Country.  We had great displays by our teachers Adriana, Alice & myself and those that came to check us out, took part in a vintage tag make & take.  I must say a BIG thank you to Tammy, who is a great friend that traveled at least 3 hours to see her family and attend the gathering, what a nice surprise!

Just remember the Burlap & Roses family welcomes any and all suggestions as to individual classes or (1) day Artist Retreats classes.

Just keep in mind that each class or retreat benefits a non-profit organization and all classes are priced according to content (supplies needed, length of class, etc.) with most individual classes start at $30.00 and Retreats start at $140.00.

Thank you to everyone that came and participated, much love!

July 15th, Cayucos Portuguese Celebration

Here are a few images of both my kids (Mason & Amanda) who were involved with the Celebration and marched in the parade.  Mason as the escort for the 2012 Cayucos' Queen (Marina Perry) on Saturday and Sunday he carried the Portuguese flag in the parade for Marina and her family.  Amanda was part of the court (flower girl) in the parade, she was having such a great time.  She got to dress up in costume like in the old country and then switched into a beautiful simple yellow dress after the parade.  Marina follows a line of Queens in her family, her aunts Tammy & Tracie, her cousin Bernice and possibly others I don't know about.  Portuguese are proud people of their heritage and I am very lucky to be married to a wonderful portuguese man.  We had a lovely day in Cayucos with Joe D. Silva (my father-in-law), my husband (Joey R. Silva) and the kids.  Thank you Sylvester-Perry family for including us in such a special time.

I'm On a Roll...

Well here I am, sitting up cuz I can't sleep and thought I could share some info with you all.  So here are a few cards I created last week, hope you like them.

BIG Thank You!

When Amanda started her lamb project this year she wasn't sure how she would do or whether she would have a buyer, because last year was a mess due to some new breed calling rules the fair put in place.  But she looked to the future and learned from that challenge and still wanted to take a lamb this year, I am very proud of her for that.  She worked so hard at showmanship practice and even took the exhibitor test and WON!  Over all the other kids in her age division and for someone who does not eat, sleep and dream sheep but enjoys her 4-5 months raising and learning about sheep each year, that is not an easy accomplishment, so hats off to you young lady.

Anyways a BIG Thank You goes out her buyer at the auction who was their in the end for my little girl, since she sold # 864 out of 922 sheep, which makes for a long day.

The Suprinski Family, Duain, Lindamae, Enzo & Ethan - You have touched our hearts during this crazy time of uncertainty and let a little girl know by your generosity, that her hardwork didn't go to waste.  Thanks again~ The Silva Family

It's Been a While

OK, I know it has been a while, but I have had a really good reason.  It is Summer time and what happens for us country folks during Summer, but Fair time.  Cotton Candy, Corndogs, Fried Twinkies the list goes on.  So my daughter Amanda had a wonderful fair this year she entered 13 photos, a quilt, a piggy apron, a cupcake placemat, a handmade ruffled carry bag and entered her scrapbook along with showing her lamb "DUKE".  She also was honored as one of the 2012 SLO County Young Achiever's.  This honor is based on an application of merit from their 4-H Community Leader, who nominates them on their 4-H accomplishments, school accomplishments and Community Service efforts, these are all taken in to consideration when the Young Achiever's are selected.  Amanda felt very honored and lucky to be nominated.  You can see Amanda's Story Board on display at the Mid-State Fair, Paso Robles, CA, local libraries, city & government offices, along with the other winners.  Congratulations Amanda!

My Awesome Husband!

This post is for my awesome husband, Joey.  Yesterday I posted that the week wasn't so good.  I totally forgot that I had a date with my husband that evening.  To my surprise he reminded me that he was taking me out for our 22nd Wedding Anniversary.  He posted it on Facebook and the out pour of warm comments was very comforting.  Thank you to all that posted and left messages and also to those that "LIKED" Joey's post.  He really is a keeper and even though the older we get we become more set in our ways.  I can always count on my crazy Portagee to pull a rabbit out of his hat and make me laugh.  So here's to Joey and another 22 years, love you!

GLUE ARTS for SALE at Cynthia Silva Designs

Hey Everyone,
I have made a decision to slowly ease into selling my kits and product favorites that I use on my projects online.  So here is the first of my favs to share with you.  GLUE ARTS is an amazing product but hard to find in the retail stores around me on the Central Coast.  Those that carry it do not restock it in a timely manner and when you ask about special orders it is crazy, they look at you like you are talking to them in a foreign language.  I am all about customer service, and what better way to get you the products YOU WANT! at a resonable price, which I am happy to do.

My first shipment should be hitting my door step in 3-5 days, so watch for an update.  I will be carrying the multi-directional refill cartridges of the 40 foot PERMA TAC, LOVE IT!!!!!!  It handles most all my projects with ease.  Regular retail price is $8.99 each and I will be selling them at $6.99 plus tax.

I will also post some other GLUE ARTS products that will be available for you in the near future to purchase and some of my layouts & projects I have used perma tac on too.  So watch for upcoming kits and other product favs and have a great evening.

Thank you,
Cindy
