County Fair Projects, July 2010

No this is not Farmer John, it is my son Mason and his pig Cue Ball (right eye is all white). Below is my daughter Amanda with her Lamb Oreo (Brockel breed, black & white specks on head, neck, ears, legs and under belly).

Both kids are in Nipomo 4-H and my son is participating in his last year of FFA. Both organizations teach leadership, citizenship, social skills and a lot more while having good clean fun with your peers.

This being Mason's last year and Amanda's first we were very busy running back and forth from show ring to show ring. But in the end it was all worth it. Mason placed 1st in his class for market and went into Champion Drive along with Amanda, who placed 2nd in her class for Market (only first and second go in). What a way to end the 4-H year! Hard word and dedication prevails! Even though the kids didn't win the overall Champion Award, it was just such an honor to be chosen as part of the top producers.
Amanda also scrapbooks and entered her album into the fair receiving a first place. This year again was especially grand because my dad came to see both the kids show their animals and that wasn't an easy task for him after a Chemo treatment, but he made them a promise and my dad is genuine and doesn't break promises, love ya dad!
